The process

At Claudio Ortiz Design Group, we guide our clients through a thoughtful and collaborative process to design homes that are both inspiring and functional. Our approach is structured into three key phases, each building on the last to ensure a cohesive and well-executed design.

Schematics/Concepts

This initial phase is about vision and exploration. We begin by understanding your goals, lifestyle, and the unique characteristics of your site. Through site analysis, initial sketches, and conceptual diagrams, we study layout options, spatial relationships, and massing strategies. This phase captures the essence of your vision and translates it into preliminary design ideas.

Design Development

Once the concept is established, we refine the design into a more detailed and resolved solution. This includes the development of floor plans, elevations, and key sections. Material selections, structural considerations, and integration with consultants (such as structural engineers or energy experts) are coordinated in this phase. We also begin early coordination with the planning department if required. The goal is to shape a clear and buildable design while preserving the integrity of the original vision.

Construction Documents

In this final phase, we prepare a comprehensive set of drawings and specifications required for permit approval and construction. These documents include detailed floor plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and notes necessary for the contractor to build the project accurately. We coordinate with all consultants and ensure code compliance and constructibility. Our involvement continues throughout the permitting process and, if selected, during construction to maintain quality and consistency.
